Becoming a Farm Fresh Revolution School

To create lasting impact, we work with each school on a three-year cycle.

Before deliveries start, we ask schools to complete a baseline questionnaire with families, and at the end of the cycle, facilitate an exit questionnaire to capture the meaningful change our project has made.

Our selection criteria include:

Dedicated points of contact – one or two staff members to help coordinate deliveries efficiently; school staff know their families best and are key to facilitating relationships.

Practical location – schools within a 50-minute journey from our delivery hub in Barton-under-Needwood, with a safe place for our van to be parked and room for volunteers and families to move safely around the market stall.

High need – preference for schools with a high FSM %, where fresh food can make the biggest difference.

Drive and enthusiasm – we look for schools that demonstrate motivation, ambition, passion, and excitement, helping ensure our message of “Fresh Food. Made Together. Shared at Home.” continues long after our vans have left.

Working closely with committed schools allows us to deliver, educate, and inspire families, ensuring our work has a lasting impact on the community.

Feedback on the project

“I would like to say how much we appreciate this fabulous service to our parents. I can’t think of any other parent engagement activity that has so much positive impact on the daily lives of our children and parents. It’s fabulous to see our parents so positive and keen to chat about what they’re going to cook this week to feed their families. It can only be a good thing seeing children helping parents to choose their fruit and vegetables!”  “Healthy eating and healthy living is very important to the life chances of our children, so getting the parents working alongside our organisation is paramount to everyone’s success.”

“In a previous school where I worked, we had the pleasure of hosting your team, and I witnessed firsthand the significant, positive impact the initiative had on promoting healthy eating habits among students.” – Teaching

“We love the atmosphere of a Farm Fresh Day. The volunteers create such a buzz of excitement and curiosity when handing out the food bags and giving the children fresh foods to try on the market stall.”

“I wanted to continue the Farm Fresh healthy eating ethos in school and have introduced our Sunshine Café. The children love it! Their willingness to eat the unfamiliar (unfamiliar to many of them) and healthy foods put out for them to try has been wonderful to see and will definitely be talked about at home.”
