Sausage & Bean Stew


  1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan. Add the sausages and fry for 5-6 mins until golden brown.
  2. Add in the onion, carrot or pepper and garlic and continue to fry until all the veg has started to soften.
  3. Pour in the stock, the tin of tomatoes and the tin of beans and slowly bring to the boil.
  4. Stir in the tomato puree, Worcestershire sauce and seasoning, then continue to simmer gently without a lid for 20 mins, stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve with crusty bread, baked potato or on a bed of mash.


1 tbsp vegetable oil

1 large onion, chopped

2 carrots or 1 pepper, sliced

1 garlic clove, crushed

6 sausages

1 tin chopped tomatoes

1 tin beans (butter/cannellini/kidney etc.)

2 tbsp tomato puree

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

250ml chicken stock

pinch of brown sugar, sea salt and black pepper to taste
