Magic Mince
Method
- Heat the oil in a large saucepan over a medium heat and fry the onion and garlic for 2 mins.
- Add the mince, celery and carrot and cook until the mince is evenly browned.
- Add the tomato puree, stock cube and Worcestershire sauce, mixing well, then add water to cover and stir.
- Put a lid on the pan and simmer gently on a low heat for 20-25 mins until the mince is cooked and the vegetables are tender.
- Add mash for a cottage pie, tin of tomatoes & sweetcorn for spaghetti bolognaise, chilli powder & kidney beans for chilli con carne. Or, serve as is over a baked potato or with a chunk of bread.
Ingredients
400g minced beef
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 stick of celery, thinly sliced
1 or 2 carrots, thinly sliced
3 tbsp tomato puree
1 beef stock cube + water
1 tbsp of oil
2 tsp mixed herbs
2 cloves of garlic crushed/sliced or 1 tsp dried garlic
2 tsp Worcestershire or soy sauce
salt and pepper to taste
