Magic Mince

Method


  1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over a medium heat and fry the onion and garlic for 2 mins.
  2. Add the mince, celery and carrot and cook until the mince is evenly browned.
  3. Add the tomato puree, stock cube and Worcestershire sauce, mixing well, then add water to cover and stir.
  4. Put a lid on the pan and simmer gently on a low heat for 20-25 mins until the mince is cooked and the vegetables are tender.
  5. Add mash for a cottage pie, tin of tomatoes & sweetcorn for spaghetti bolognaise, chilli powder & kidney beans for chilli con carne. Or, serve as is over a baked potato or with a chunk of bread.

Ingredients

400g minced beef

1 medium onion, finely chopped

1 stick of celery, thinly sliced

1 or 2 carrots, thinly sliced

3 tbsp tomato puree

1 beef stock cube + water

1 tbsp of oil

2 tsp mixed herbs

2 cloves of garlic crushed/sliced or 1 tsp dried garlic

2 tsp Worcestershire or soy sauce

salt and pepper to taste
